What tribute can be paid to Herman Rider: what words can be written to express proper appreciation for his fine leadership and the great sense of loss we experience with his death. Those of us who shared with him in the administration of the Maine Township High Schools knew him as a sincere friend a warm, compassionate, understanding man of splendid character, great integrity, and high Christian ideals. His ready smile and the spirit of comaraderie which he brought to every gathering will be conspicuously absent. We shall gratefully remember his unfailing support and quiet strength ‑ his solid judgment in school matters, his loyalty, and his genuine concern for the students and faculty of Maine West.
