Set Your Goals And Move On

By LORELEI RHINES

We've got the fever: we're hot; and we can't be stopped! Everyone's got 'em. They are the springtime blah‑has. Part of the joys and mysteries of spring have long since fled.

As the temperatures are rising, the excitement is coming to a high hilt. Everything is drawing toward a dead close.

Next year's Pom‑Pon Squad ha' been chosen, science awards have been given out, and the Music Department is giving their final public appearance.

Not only does the closing of activities indicate that school will soon be over, there is a general sense of awareness that lingers in the air. The days have been counted, and the graduates‑to‑be are especially tense. Soon they will be free.

Now the question taunts many seniors. What now? College? Work? Some don't even care. Like wow, they've finally gotten out of here and who cares what comes next. But that really is a bad attitude, because there is a future.

People are constantly drilling it into our heads that we should "get a good education to get a good job!" These are the D scholars. But have you ever heard of the guy who says, "Join our company; we'll train you"?

Well, whatever you do after high school, it's worth giving it some thought. Even if you finally get out of high school, there still is something ahead.

Maybe the treadmill of high school days are over, but will you start onto a new track. Will it be wake up and go to work, come home, and sleep? That kind of life would sure be boring.

Now that school is almost over for the year, set yourself some goals. Reach for something because this is the very first day of the rest of your life!
