Did you know that Su Sciez '73, has been named this year's National Merit Scholar? Being a Merit Scholar places Su in the top academic level of high school students in the United States. Over 90 per cent of all high schools participate in the merit program.
Su has been on the high honor roll throughout her four years, has participated in Concert Choir, Choraliers, and competed on the speech team. She is also a member of Tri‑M, the National Forensic League, and the Thespian Society.
She plans on attending Northwestern University in the fall. When asked how she felt about winning the award, St.‑ stated, Tuition is astronomical and the merit award should help a great deal."
Did you know that Mr. Eric Edstrom, Social Science Department chairman, and Mr. Charles Dunn, Mr. James Martin, and Miss Deborah Mackson, all members of the Social Science Department, have received professional recognition for their innovative teaching techniques?

Congratulations to Jayne Henry '73 who won a first place prize in the Woodfield Photo Contest. The category Jayne's work was entered in was creative techniques. Her prizes were two $25 gift certificates.
Did you know that two business department students attended the National Office Education Contest? Seniors Laura Mrowiec and Paulette Broeker, who placed first place in Steno II and second place in Keypunch, respectively, attended the competition held on May 9 in New Mexico. Laura received a third place in Steno II in the nation.
Have you heard the Des Plaines players will produce their second show, "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" in August? Interested students can try out on June 18 through 22 at Maine West. Scripts and music are available at the Des Plaines Public Library on a reserve‑deposit basis.
