West Netmen Bounce With
Record of 11-4

The Maine West netmen are progressing well through their season with a present record of 11 wins and four losses. Fine performances by seniors Steve Wild and John Anderson have also helped the team's record. Steve's record now stands at 17 wins and 7 losses.

One setback for Steve was his loss to Tom Pauly of Lake Park, the defending champ, with the sets at 6‑2 and 6‑1. Steve has bounced back however, as he has qualified for state again, and will play at Arlington on May 25 and 26.

John Anderson has also had a fine year with a record of 14 wins and 2 losses. At the district meet held on May 11 and 12 Maine West became the co‑champs with Lake Park and Fenton.

The netmen have also had a fine showing in conference play, as they presently rank third out of the 12 schools in the Central Suburban Conference. This is quite an achievement according to Coach Roger King, "Ours is the toughest conference in the state."

More tennis excitement will be in the news as the Central Suburban Conference holds their meet tonight and tomorrow at Glenbrook South. On May 25 and 26 the state finals will be held.
