Set Your Goals and Aim To Achieve Them

By LYNN HEIDEN

The high school experience has just about finished, and for some it has been successful and others it has not. But the real success of high school will not be determined by each individual until a few years from now.

Success cannot be measured on how many plays a student has been involved in, the number of homeruns he has scored, or by his being first in the class. Students who have learned to grow individually‑those who have determined their set of morals and values‑those who have set a temporary goal in life and are ready to face what life has to offer are the real success.

Some people make the mistake of not setting any type of goal in life. Whether it be for today, next week, or a year from now, a goal should be decided with the mind of it being accomplished. Especially now that we will soon be on our own, either at college or on a job, having to face "society's rules," a goal should be set on what we want to get out of it.

There will be no more parents telling us what is right or wrong, failure notices, or getting detentions. "We have to look out for ourselves because no one else is going to look out for us," goes the familiar saying; but along with the responsibility of being on our own goes the fulfilling and exciting experience which is left up to us how we use it; and along with it our success or failure goes too.
