Senior Officers Review Past Four Years

Phil Vaccarello was this year's senior class president. He said it was hard because of all the responsibilities and pressures, but he admits "It was fun."

Phil recalls his four years at Maine West as "fun-filled memories." He has been an active student since his freshman year when he got involved in football, baseball, basketball and class council. He continued to play football through his four years at Maine West and sophomore year was named a Brotherhood member.

Along with being in class council and Student Council, Phil has made the B‑honor roll and received a science award.

After graduation, Phil plans to attend Oakton College majoring in Business Administration.

Phil believes that his high school years were the best of his life because, "you don't have that much to worry about. After graduation, life is a routine."

Gail Singer's plans after graduation also reach out to Oakton College where she will major in office skills.

During her four years at Maine West, Gail has been involved in Student Council, Spanish club, pep club, A‑honor roll, National Honor Society, and Ski Club.

She feels her greatest achievement was being elected vice-president of the Senior Class. "It has enabled me to learn about people a n d the way things operate in an organization. I think being a leader is one of the most rewarding experiences a person could ever describes her years at Maine West as "the greatest."

Her main goal in life is to meet people and learn what makes them tick.

After graduation, Lynn Heiden plans to attend the University of Wisconsin in LaCrosse. Mass Communications will be her major.

Besides being secretary of the senior class, Lynn was also on the pom‑pon squad, involved in the AFS program, in Student Council, in Pep Club, a gym leader, secretary‑treasurer of Brotherhood Society, and editor of the Westerner.

Her goal in life is to meet as many people and to learn as much as possible about them and them about her. Lynn feels that her most challenging moments were trying to organize her time.

Over her four years at Maine West, she has become involved in a variety of activities all of which she feels "have been totally worthwhile."

Her opinion of Maine West; "Maine West is an excellent school for learning and getting involved in school activities. As class secretary this year, I have worked with three other officers and two class sponsors whose enthusiasm and hard work has influenced me greatly."

Besides being treasurer of the senior class, Claudia Weed has been involved in National Honor Society, pom‑pon, Student Council, Spirit Senate, Quill & Scroll, leaders program, Pep Club, and page 2 editor of the Westerner.

Claudia plans to attend Indiana University in the fall and major in interior design.

Her goal in life has been to be active and experience as many things as possible. Claudia feels the most challenging time at Maine West was during her sophomore year when she had to give speeches in front of the class. It was hard to overcome the uneasy feeling of being in front of people. She feels being on the pom‑pon squad has helped her overcome this feeling.

When she was asked if her high school years were her best, Claudia said, "It's hard to say because I don't know what lies ahead."

"I think the senior class owes a great deal to our sponsors, Mrs. Joan Plock and Mr. Leslie Jannusch, who have helped us in senior class council and did more than their share to make our class activities successful," commented Claudia.
