Picking Up Scraps
V‑Show Starts To Get Together

"This year's Maine West Variety Show is composed of the best young talent Maine West has to offer." Linda Costagli '73 the director of the '72‑'73 V‑Show also added that this year will be "better than ever." V‑Show performs November 15 through 18 in the Maine West auditorium at 8 p.m. The theme is the American theatre from its beginning to the most modern times.

It is called simply "Scraps." Besides having an unusual name for a V‑Show, the show itself will be different in structure this year. It is chronologically organized around four scenes, the first being in the "gay" 1890's. The second, third, and fourth scenes are through the days of early television and movies, modern stage shows and television, and finally to the most recent theatre including cuts from Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell.

The rest of the V‑Show staff consists of Bob Konopacz '73, stage manager; Pam Moscinski '73, choreographer; Phil Fischer '73 and Steve Ware '73, music directors; Joanne Jensen '73, costumes chairman; Jane Eisfeldt '73, art director; Carol Jensen '73 and Nancy Meyer '73, props chairmen; and Dale Leigh '73, publicity chairman.

Commenting on how V‑Show looks so far, Bob Konopacz said, "I feel the show is one of the most well organized and fast moving shows Maine West has ever had." The rehearsals are going on every day as each act gets ready for the show, and there is tense excitement that accompanies each rehearsal.

Everyone is quite enthusiastic and Mr. Ronald Mills, the faculty director and chairman of the speech and drama department, likes it that way. At each rehearsal he generates a feeling of how V‑Show should turn out and seems to inspire the students to try to do their best and has been working with Linda and her staff since early in the summer.

"Attending V‑Show and the other school productions is just as much a part of school spirit as going to football games." Bob Repta '73, the narrator of the show, also added, "It seems like every year V‑Show directors say that V‑Show will be something new and different, but this year it really will be."
