Council at Work

Student Council is starting off this year, under the leadership of seniors Mark Eichhorn, president; Cheryl Kueker, vice‑president; and Sue Anderson, secretary. Each of the five committees in Council is already at work.

Public Relations Committee has done the job in getting the 1972‑1973 Maine West Student Activities Calendars out early. Calendars are still on sale in the bookstore for $.50. Dialtones have been sent to the printers and should be out in about two weeks. Any club sponsor wishing to have announcements put on the white board located in front of the building should fill out a request and return it to the Student Council office.

Organizations committee is wrapped up in preparations for Homecoming and has chosen "Victory Warrior Style" as this year's theme.

The donuts that are on sale every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning in the cafeteria before homeroom are a result of Service Committee's efforts.

A Newcomer's Party was held on September 16. Social Committee was responsible for that freshman event and is now concentrating on publicity for V-Show.

Forum Committee is now devoting its time to arranging an assembly featuring the hypnotist, Dr. Irwin Ross.

In recent meetings, Student Council has moved to form two special "ad‑hoc" committees. One of these committees is looking into problems with the buses to and from Maine West. The other committee is working toward changing district policy concerning semester and final exams. Their goal is to have students with an A equivalent be given the option of not taking those exams.
