Girls' Athletics Has Great Year Planned

This year is the beginning of a whole new year of sports for girls. Girls' Athletics has blossomed into more competition for girls in more sports.

Miss Karen Kenyon, supervisor of Girls' Athletics, stated that it's separate from GRA. Girls' Athletics consists of teams and GRA deals with Intramurals.

Tennis, swimming, and golf are the fall competition for the girls. The coach for the tennis team is Miss Barbara Jones.

Maine West's tennis team traveled to Glenbrook North September 26 only to lose a tight match with Glenbrook North winning 4‑3.

On September 28 we hosted Niles North and were defeated by a score of 6‑1. Senior members of the tennis team are Cindy Brodie, Bonnie Serone, and Kathy Zyrkowski.

Those from the Class of '74 are Martha Clement, Rita Dolan, Debbie Maday, Karen Neetz, Monica Polacek, Marsha Strykowski, and Kim Tuttle.

Sophomores on the team are Karen Batey, Maureen Brock, Yvonne Monreal, and Barb Schwarz.

The incoming freshmen on the team are Laurie Meissner and Cindy Liszewski.

Coaching our swimming team this year is Mrs. Terry Milam. On September 29 the swimming team went to Niles North and was victorious with a score of 65‑42.

At Maine South October 2 our girls lost, 26‑80. Members of the swimming and diving team are as follows: Denise Bell '73, Terri Androff '76, Dawn Biddison '75, Pam Bruderle '75, Sue Bonaguidi '74, Sue Bowersox '76, and Sue Carr '73.

Others on the team are Robin Downing '76, Kathy Erickson '75, Betty Lou Evans '75, Sue Fox '75, Sue Jobst '74, Chris Heil '76, Janice Heyse '75, Judy Heyse '76, Sue Jenik '74, Denise Kochanski '76, Sue Levand '75, Kathy Maihack '75, Linda Medrano '76, and Mary Rossi '75.

Still others on the team are Pat Sipple '75, Mary Beth Suda '76, Jan Veit '76, Suzette Zabinski '73, and Shelia McNulty '75.

People on the golf team are Miss Royleen Tipton, coach, Viv LaBuda '75, Carol Gustafson '73, Jean Anderson '73, Pam Nehring '73, Kris Tosterud '75, and Barb Leband '73.
