'Twas a successful homestand for our battling Warriors as they shut out Waukegan, 14‑0, and then came back to whip Niles East, 35‑0.
Against Waukegan on September 22, both teams showed tight defensive play as the teams went into the second half in a scoreless deadlock.
Scott Smith '73 broke the tie in the third quarter with a short run for a touchdown and drove over for another one in the fourth quarter, finishing up a drive which started after an interception by Chris Bouchee '73. Two successful extra point kicks by John O'Connor '74 rounded out the Warrior scoring attack.
The Maine West sophomores were victorious over the Bulldogs, 20‑7.
Last Friday the Maine West sophomores trounced the sophomore Trojans of Niles East, 27‑8, to set the stage for a big Warrior uprising in the nightcap.

The varsity game was scoreless until late in the second quarter when, after the Warriors recovered a Niles East fumble at the Trojans' 18‑yard line, Dan Myszka '74 drove in from the 8‑yard line to put the Warriors on top. O'Connor ran the ball in for two points to make the score 8‑0.
Maine West broke the game open in the second half, as Mike Werner '74 brought the ball in from the 1‑yard line, and later in the third quarter Bruce Terry '73 did the same.
In the fourth quarter Smith scored twice on eight and one yard runs. O'Connor was successful on three of the four extra points he attempted in the half.
Tomorrow afternoon the Warriors travel to New Trier West for their game, which starts at 2 o'clock. New Trier West defeated Waukegan last Saturday, so both teams will be trying to continue their winning ways.
