Halloween Night

By MIKE MENNELLA

It was a dark and gloomy night.
The moon was shining very bright.

Ghosts were moving without a sound,
While witches and goblins were sneaking around.

I was home all alone that night,
And my hands were shaking from fright.

For I heard a noise in the dark,
And my dog, Sparky, began to bark.

Then suddenly the doorbell rang,
And to my feet I sprang.

I slowly opened the kitchen door
And my face lit up with a look of horror.

For behind the kitchen door,
I saw a ghost, a witch, and more.

But from those scary looking creeps,
Came the words "trick or treat."

So now I know how dumb I was,
For I was about to call the fuzz.

Because of all the things I had seen,
Were only because it was Halloween.
