On October 5 in competition with Deerfield, Niles East, and Glenbrook North, the varsity Warriors placed six runners among the top 11 of the meet.
Leading the Warrior pack was Chip Barbour '73, finishing second, followed by Greg Klebe '74, fifth; Paul Mademann '75, sixth; Paul Frost '74, seventh; Brian Dunavant '74, tenth; and Brad Frost '73, eleventh.
The individual leader of the sophomore harriers was Joe Paul '75, who came home in first place. He was followed by Greg Koeller '76, fourth; Scott Evans '75, sixth; and Scott Swakow '76, ninth.
In the largest meet of the last two weeks, the Ridgewood Invitational of October 7, the Maine West varsity finished fifth with a total of 137 points. The leader of the meet, Lane Tech, tallied 87 points.
Chip Barbour led the individual runners, coming in seventh, with Greg Klebe placing twenty‑fifth in the competition. The sophomores also placed fifth in this meet, finishing with 166 points. Oak Park led this level with 91 points. Greg Koeller placed twelfth to lead the sophomore Warriors.

On October 10 in competition with Fremd and Conant, the again led by Chip Barbour, varsity Harriers were once again led by Chip Barbour, who finished in first place, Following him were Greg Klebe and Paul Frost, who finished tenth and eleventh, respectively.
On the sophomore level Greg led the Warriors with a seventh place finish. Placing behind Koeller were Scott Evans, tenth; Howie Blietz, eleventh; and Scott Swakow, thirteenth.
Victory was at a maximum for the Harriers on October 12. Competing with Niles West and Highland Park, the Warriors came home first on all four levels.
The varsity team was led by Chip Barbour, first place; Greg Klebe, third; Brian Dunavant, filth; Brad Frost, sixth; Paul Mademann, seventh; Paul Frost, eighth; Scott Sedlack, ninth; Fred Schultz '73, tenth; Pete Farmer '74, eleventh; Chuck LaSota '74, twelfth; and Glen Oland '74, thirteenth.
