Behind Scenes View of
V-Show Practice

King Herod, barroom drunks, chorus girls, alley cats, and strippers rehearse for the V‑Show that will be held on November 15, 16, 17, and 18.

These are just some of the characters in the 1972 "Scraps." Don't get the idea that this is just an alcoholic bash; there are other acts too. V‑Show offers everything from different species of birds to singing peasants.

The rehearsals start out easy enough. At 3:40, Mr. Ron Mills walks in the auditorium and you can hear an assortment of ''quiets'' and "shhhs.''

But things do get settled down and the east gets down to work. The stage crew bustles about the stage, setting up lights and microphones, while choruses of "Red Hot Mama" and "1‑2‑3 What Are We Fighting For" can be heard practicing.

"Don't break character," Linda Costagli, student director, says to one of the students rehearsing.

Groups of students are scattered throughout the auditorium talking quietly among themselves.

"I wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't for the cast party," Patti Wagner '74 jokingly says to another stage crew member, Sue Perdue '74.

Edith Ann and Susie Lou are having a detailed conversation about a haunted house and the Pink Panther, which provokes laughter from students waiting for their turn to rehearse.

"Twelve Days at Maine West," "Three Bears," "Henny Penny," "Popcorn," "Day By Day," and "The Golden Goose" finish practicing. Most of the kids linger on to watch their friends rehearse.

So another day of rehearsal comes to an end, leaving V-Show just one day less to that big night.
