Harriers Finish Season;
Chip Goes Downstate

The Warrior runners competed in their last meet October 17. The Triangular Meet, with Niles North, Taft, and Lane Tech competing against our varsity Warriors was very profitable for our runners, downing two out of three of their opponents.

The Warriors stunned both Niles North and Taft by shutting each out with perfect scores of 15‑50. But against Lane Tech the runners were unable to hold on and were thrown for a loss.

The Warriors ended up as third place holders in the Central Suburban League. Their season record was 10‑6 with a good conference showing of 8‑3. The top seven varsity team members at season's end were in this order: Chip Barbour '73, Greg Klebe '74, Paul Frost '74, Paul Mademann '75, Brian Dunavant '74, Brad Frost '73, and Fred Schultz '73.

Top varsity runner Chip Barbour went downstate to compete in the state finals. His performance was quite commendable, placing twenty‑first out of 230 runners.

The frosh‑soph team also had a fairly good year. They finished 11‑5 for the season and 8‑3 in conference competition. Many frosh‑soph team members are to be commended for their fine showing over the year. The top seven members of the frosh‑soph team are Joe Paul '75, Paul Koeller '76, Scott Evans '75, Jim Loris '75, Howie Blietz '76, and Norman Hillner '75.

Varsity cross country Coach William Barringer, commenting on next year's outlook, had this to say, "The outlook of next season is pretty good. Four of the first seven varsity runners will be coming back next year. The Junior Class has by far the best class as far as team depth goes. They show tremendous potential."
