Dear Editor:
We feel that the basketball coaches have been extremely unfair to the girls who have access to the facilities in B‑wing and C‑wing gyms after school.

The girls who go out for the teams and intramurals have one hour to practice their sport in the gym. Yet each time we go, our hour is cut short because of the extreme rudeness of the coaches. Instead of waiting until our designated time is up and until we have finished putting the equipment away, they barge in and take over. After this, we have to work around them just to put our equipment away. They could at least have the courtesy to wait outside until we are through.

It isn't bad enough that we are forced to share our two gyms with them so that they can practice every night after school; we also have to put up with their inconsideration.

Dear Editor:
We were wondering exactly what is happening to the students at Maine West. Not only do we lack school spirit, but we've lost all respect for Maine West as well.

We remember when we were frosh how sacred the seal was. In case anyone doesn't know, the seal is under the Spirit right by the front doors. If anyone stepped on the seal, some big upper classman would have the culprit scrubbing the seal with a toothbrush. No one stepped on the seal. Doesn't the seal mean anything anymore? Is it just a section of fancy tile or a built in door mat?

Dear Editor:
Vicki Richardson's story in the last issue of Westerner could not have been explained better. Girls' Physical Education is not geared toward all girls, but more towards the athletic type.

There are a lot of girls who cannot wait for their gym class to roll around so they can tackle, run, swing, and sweat. This is the type of physical education girls have.

There are a lot of girls who are opposite and would rather have more than the four weeks of dance offered. Dance is not a game ‑ there are many girls who are seriously interested in it as a career. So if we are producing such well formed female football players, let's also produce some well formed dancers as well.

Dear Editor:
I would like to compliment the entire V‑Show cast as it was an excellent performance. Having been to several of the rehearsals, I know just how much work it was to put on such a performance.

Also, I'd like to mention the lighting, sound, stage and other various prop crews. Although they seem to have a place in the background, there wouldn't have been a V‑Show without them. Let's not forget that they also had a lot of work to go through.

A very outstanding point and a very noticeable point is the way the show was presented in such a professional manner. I did not notice anybody breaking character or bursting out with hives created from frayed nerves.

Yes, once again I'd like to say it was a very outstanding performance!

Dear Editor:
We are taking this opportunity to thank the 159 Maine West students who attended Linda Costagli's cast buffet party following Saturday night's performance of V‑Show.

They were by far the most well behaved and courteous group of people ever to be assembled under one roof ‑ my roof. I only wish that Mr. Mills, the faculty director, could have been here to witness this unforgettable and enjoyable experience!

Wow, what a gang!
