Christmas Memories

By JILL GERSHON

"If you don't be good, Santa will put charcoal in your stocking." "Santa can see everything you do and he's always watching, so be good." "Hey, let's write a letter to Santa."

Such things are past memories of high school students at Maine West. These threats used in our younger days are now a joke.

When we were young, it was a terror to be told that Santa wasn't going to bring you that special doll you wanted or that neato red dump truck if you didn't obey your parents.

Well, younger days are over, Now we think of Christmas in its true meaning. Santa is just a past memory.

One thing that hasn't changed is the excitement of waking up Christmas morning and racing down the stairs pushing younger brothers and sisters out of the way to get to your presents.

Christmas is ripping open your biggest present and finding out it's a bathrobe instead of the album you wanted. It's trying to look on the bright side of things until you suddenly remember the true meaning of Christmas, the day Jesus Christ was born.
