Cagers Improve Season Record
Conference, Standing 1-0

Opening with three losses and a victory away from their home court, the Warriors came home with a record of 1‑0 in their only conference game and 1‑3 overall. Losing to Forest View, 67‑46, to Arlington, 64‑49, and to Waukegan, 48‑31, the Warriors finally picked up a victory, defeating Niles East 59‑64.

Last Saturday the Warriors opened their home season with a 60‑46 victory over the Wildcats of Libertyville. Maine West scored the first basket on a short jump shot by Andy Richardson '73, and the Warriors never trailed in the game thereafter.

Early in the second quarter Jim Olson '73, replacing Doug Myers '74, who had picked up three fouls earlier in the game, converted a free throw to complete a three‑point play, giving the Warriors a 20‑17 lead.

Chris Bouchee '73 put on a one‑man show later in the same quarter, scoring six straight points on a pair of free throws, a jump shot, and a lay‑up. Olson hit a lay‑up at the buzzer to give the Warriors a 30‑24 halftime lead.

Paul Pease '73 sparked a 12‑2 Warrior scoring spree early in the third quarter, stealing the ball and then losing it to teammate Bouchee, who drove in for the lay‑up. A pair of fourth quarter free throws by Myers gave the Warriors a 23‑point lead, their biggest of the night.

Scoring in double figures for the Warriors were Chris Bouchee, high scorer with 25 points, and Doug Myers, who had 12 points.

Tonight the Warriors take on the rival Hawks at Maine South, with the sophomore game starting at 6:45 p.m.
