Track Team Looks Good

On Tuesday, January 23, the 1972‑73 winter sports schedule will be complete when the indoor track team takes on Proviso West at Proviso West. The Warriors will enjoy the services of nine returning lettermen this year; and they are Chip Barbour '73, Bob Chapman '73, Ed Devers '73, and Scott Pischke '73. Other returning lettermen are Doug Meyers '74, Kevin Skahan '74, Bruce Kiester '74, and Greg Klebe '74.

Mr. Ronald Brown, indoor track coach, said that the team's main chance of a crown rests on the backs of the junior team members; and they are Mark Siska, Brian Dunavant, Paul Frost, Kevin Skahan, Greg Klebe, and David Braun.

Coach Brown remarked that the team's most important men are probably juniors Bill Klippert and Greg Klebe and senior Chip Barbour. Barbour has gone downstate two years in a row for his performance in cross country. Kiebe broke the sophomore school record for the half mile last year, and Bill Klippert finished tenth in the state.

Last year Coach Brown's Warriors finished tenth in their district. Mr. Brown hopes for his team to finish at least in the upper fourth of the division and' to try as hard as possible to bring home a championship for Maine West.

In closing, Coach Brown expressed hope that the student body's enthusiasm for the team would grow because, although a team does not need a crowd of spectators, a noisy audience would serve as a boost to the team's morale and inspire them to do better.
