Cast Gets Chosen; Rehearsals To Begin

The King and I, Maine West's all‑school musical this year, will be presented March 15, 16, and 17 in the auditorium at 8 p.m. Tickets will be sold in the bookstore for $1.50, $2, and $2.50.

Singing auditions were held January 3, 4, and 5. On January 8 and 9 recalls were held. Readings were scheduled for January 10 and 11. Finally on January 12 the casting was posted.

Christine Johanson '73 and Diana Reed '73 are double cast in the part of Anna, an English widow who is brought to the Orient in order to teach Western culture to the king's court.

The king will be portrayed by Tom Sandri '74 and Neil Wallace '73. The king himself is childish and stubborn, yet charming and quite fascinating.

The part of Lady Thiang, the king's head wife, was given to Kathy Pazdioch '73 and Sue Sciez '73.

Cindie Brodie '73 and Ginger Reinhart '73 obtained the part of Tuptim, a beautiful slave girl. Dale Leigh '73 and Steve McMahon '74 will be playing Tuptim's lover, Lun Tha.

The oldest son of the king, Prince Chulalongkorn, will be portrayed by Norb Bartosiak '73.

Some of the other parts are Bruce Costagli '75 as Captain Orton, David Hanson '75 as Louis Leonowens, Bob Matin '73 as the interpeter, and Steve Frey '75 as the Kralahome.

Others are Fred McKeown as Phra Alack, Nina Leone '73 as Princess Ying Yaowlak, and Sir Edward Ramsay will be portrayed by Gary Blume '73.

Amazon No. 1 will be Joanne Jensen '73; Carol Jensen '73 will be Amazon No. 2. Lorrie Swanson '75 and Debbie Novak '75 will be Amazons No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.

"Getting To Know You," "I Whistle a Happy Tune," and "Hello, Young Lovers" are just some of the popular tunes that are going to be sung in the musical.
