Warrior Gymnasts Win;
Beat New Trier West

The freshman ‑ sophomore gymnastics team was victorious in a closely fought battle against New Trier West on January 12. The final score for Coach Dennis Mazur's team was 39 to 35. High scorer for the affair was the excellent Mike McFarland '75 who participated in every event.

The team's luck, however, ran short because on Saturday they were defeated by a tough Prospect team. This meet showed an eventual outcome of 51 to 46. Once again, McFarland turned in a fine performance, and Mike Swiatek '75 also fared well on the day.

The varsity gymnasts, however, did not fare as well in competition as did the frosh‑soph team. In action which saw the team pitted against a tough Glenbrook North squad, the hard‑working Warriors were defeated. When the meet was over. the Warriors had been downed by a final score of 77.4 to 111.

The same sad song was played again for the slumping Warriors when they faced Prospect High on January 13. This time the superior Prospect team had no trouble in manhandling our side. The final depressing outcome was 111 for Prospect and only 77.9 for the fighting Warriors.

In spite of the outcome of the past few games, Coach Sidney Drain said that the team is improving and that senior Bill Lumpp and Junior Mark Schuldt remain excellent.
