Freshman Tankmen Have New Coach

The Warrior swimmers traveled to the Hinsdale South College Invitational on January 13. There they placed seventh out of 12 teams. Larry Bierwirth '73 placed first in the 100‑yard free style with a time of 50.0.

At Niles North on January 12 the varsity team lost, but the freshman team won. The sophomore team won on a forfeit because Niles North does not have a sophomore team.

The Warrior tankmen swam in the Riverside‑Brookfield Invitational on January 6. There they placed seventh out of 23 teams. Larry Bierwirth took first place in the 100‑yard free style with a time of 51.9.

On January 5 at the Highland Park Invitational, the swimmers lost on all three levels.

There was no action during the Christmas vacation except for the Sophomore Invitational at Maine East on December 30. The sophomores took eighth place out of nine schools.

Larry Bierwirth has the fourth best time in the state for the 100‑yard free style and the third best time in the state for the 200‑yard free style.

Mr. James Borowski is the new freshman swimming coach; when asked what he thought about the team, he remarked, "I feel very optimistic toward the freshman swimmers and their future for the next four years. I see a lot of possible potential that has yet to be developed. We're looking forward to finishing up the season with good competition in dual meets, and we are setting our goals high for the conference on February 12."
