Mr. Ralph J. Frost, assistant superintendent of the Maine Township High Schools and a well‑known, highly respected leader in the education field, has announced plans to retire at the end of the current school year, bringing to a close a professional career with District 207 that began almost 36 years ago.
Noted for his sincere interest in, and concern for young people, Mr. Frost has been instrumental in the establishment of many new programs designed to fit the special needs of students. Under his guidance, school districts in the area worked together to form the Maine Township Special Education Program in 1966. This program now serves, through a joint agreement which is administered by the high school district, the needs of all township children having special handicaps or shortcomings in learning capabilities.

Equally concerned about the special needs of youngsters with high learning potential, Mr. Frost was among those who provided leadership in establishing Maine's accelerated and advanced placement programs for students able to do above‑average work.
In October 1970 in what Dr. Short called at the time a singular tribute to a most deserving individual, the Board of Education named the district's new administrative facility at 1131 South Dee Road, Park Ridge, the Ralph J. Frost Administration Center as a testimonial to a distinguished public servant for his many years of dedicated service to the Maine high schools.
