Senior Bierwirth Fast,
Breaks Two Records

On Friday, January 26, the varsity swimmers rolled off the second of two straight victories by taking care of Niles West by 33 points. The final score was 67‑27. In the same meet the sophomores enjoyed a 66‑31 victory, and the freshmen came out on top 65‑30. In this confrontation sophomore George Ericksen had the best 100‑yard backstroke with a final time of 1:05.8.

At Deerfield on Friday, January 19, the tankmen had a close‑fought battle with the opposing team and finally came out on top by a single point, 48‑47. The sophomores also savored a 51‑point victory as they had no trouble in defeating Deerfield 72‑21.

All enjoyment of victory was forgotten, however, because the small freshman team was defeated by over 70 points. The final score was only 12 for the freshmen and 83 for Deerfield. Special credit should go to varsity divers John Stanonis '73 and Richard Weaver '73.

Larry Bierwirth '73 has recently added two more feats to his long list of accomplishments by setting two new pool and school records for the 400‑yard free style by getting times of 3:57.1 and 3:57.5.
