VOL. XV, NO. 1
Harrier Record Stands at 6‑0
With the varsity squad undefeated in its first four meets, the Harriers travel to Oak Park tomorrow for a meet which begins at 10 am. Also, due to the Niles Township teachers' strike, the home meet against Niles North and Proviso East which was originally to be held on September 13 has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 9.
The varsity's excellent 6-0 record thus far has been achieved by a surprisingly well balanced team. For example, in the opening four meets Greg Klebe '74 has led the Harriers twice, while Brian Dunavant '74 and Joe Paul '75 have each led the squad once.
The sophomores check in with a fine record of 5-1, with Howie Blietz '76 and Bob Pawelko '76 leading the way.
The freshman squad, with a record of 6-0, is being paced by Jeff Brydges '77 and Don Kern '77.
There are 10 returning senior lettermen this year, including Glen Oland, who has finished either second or third in each of the opening meets thus far, and Paul Frost, who has been a scorer in each of those meets.
While commenting on this year's team, Head Coach Bill Barringer stated that "any boys still wanting to come out for the team are welcome, and we are particularly in need of juniors this year."
