Seven Attend Restaurants
Seven students from the Food Occupations classes recently took a trip to Chicago with their instructor, Ms. Shirley Kapina. The seven were Keith Michehl '75, Mike Hayes '75, Joe Detzner '74, Susan Lonsinger '75, Debbie Crews '75, Jo Anne Schwartz '74, and Cindy Hower '74.

The first stop was a tour of the Merchandise Mart. They visited the test kitchens of the Quaker Oats Company and a bowling‑restaurant chain, where they learned of a variety of food service operations and saw a newly designed carry out food counter which included hot foods, sandwiches, and beverages for the workers in the building.
The highlight of the trip was a tour of the, exclusive private club, Davre's. The tour was conducted by Mr. De Monte, the banquet manager of the restaurant.

They then toured and ate lunch on the ninety‑fifth floor of the John Hancock building. The lunch consisted of rib‑eye steak, stuffed tomatoes, and double baked potatoes. They were served dessert on a cart by the head captain. The students were delighted when the violinist played a favorite tune they'd requested.
