VOL. XV, NO. 10
Air conditioning will come to Maine West this summer it was announced by Mr. James Coburn, principal, last week. Plans to air condition L‑wing and the LRC are already underway, and some of the preliminary construction has already begun. Construction is expected to last through summer with the completed system ready for the fall.
Plans were also considered to air condition the auditorium, but its distance from the cooling towers made it impossible to hook the auditorium up to the system. The decision, which applies to all Maine schools, had been a product of careful consideration and study in order that the air conditioning would benefit the greatest number of students.
Since its construction, L-wing has become a widely used area accommodating activities of the English and Speech Departments and study halls. L-101 has become a much sought after facility for lectures, guest speakers, and movies thus reserving the auditorium for musicals, Variety Show, and homeroom assemblies.
Students using these facilities should find the cooler air temperatures a welcome relief from the hot weather of late summer.
