Ecology Workshop
Therese Plas Wins Science Scholarship
Therese Plas '76 will receive a Science Club sponsored scholarship to attend an environmental workshop on the Lorado Taft Field Campus in Oregon, Illinois.
Therese was told that she would receive the scholarship by Ms. Linda Lowenherz and her fellow Science Club members. She and her family are very excited about her winning the award. She will leave for Lorado Taft Campus June 18 and return June 21.
The workshop will include a broad introduction about the environment, problems, and the benefits that environmental activities have for students. Instruction will be based on discussion and supplemented by movies, demonstrations, publications, field trips, and projects.
Therese was asked what she wanted most out of the workshop, and she replied, "I want to get other people's ideas on conservation and ecology, and I also want the opportunity to witness and take part in everyday college life."
Therese also said that she has visited a college campus, but she thinks that this trip will be helpful when she does attend college.
She was then asked if she liked studying the environment and said, "Yes, I think it will be useful in my profession. I'd like to own and manage a plant shop."
