Diamondmen KickOff Season
Optimistically
The diamondmen will kick off another season when, on Saturday, April 3, the Warriors clash with Oak Park at home. The team, which last year had a record of 12-9, good enough for a third place tie with Maine South, play in the 10-school Central Suburban League.

According to varsity Coach Al Carstens, the CSL is easily the toughest league in the state. The other teams in the league are Deerfield, Glenbrook North and South, Highland Park, New Trier West, Niles North, East, and West, and Maine North and South. Despite the fact of being in an exceptionally tough league, the team's outlook is rosy. Coach Carstens said, "The team has good speed and some pretty fair hitting. But the nucleus of the team lies in its pitching. Eighty‑five to 90 per cent of high school baseball depends on the ability of the pitcher to come through."
Senior members of the pitching squad are Joe Jung, Jay Ligget, who last year posted a fine 7-2 record, Jim Olsen, and Ron Schroeder. The junior pitchers are Dan Henk, Mike Kob, the varsity's only southpaw, Al Mueller and Rich Slapke.

Playing the various infield positions are John O'Connor '74, Jeff Schwarz '74 and Frank Vaia '74. Other infielders are Mike Bowersox '75, Norm Hellner '74, Gary Slipke '74, and Tom Thvedt '74. Playing outfield are Ed Dolan '74, Quin Hasse '74, John Jung '75, Mike Kelly '75, Russ Mandell '75 and Dan Myska '74. Finally, the varsity backstops are Terry Quinn '75, Austin Stanton '74, and Steve Zuccarini '75.
