VOL. XV, NO. 10
The Funk and Wagnall's Standard Family' Dictionary defines "intramural" as "taking place within the confines of an educational institution." Perhaps a better definition of the noun is FUN. Here at Maine, the intramural department is headed by Mr. Miley Hotchkiss, who once again has planned a variety of events that should please the taste of any boy.
For sophomore ping-pong buffs, a table tennis tournament will be held on March 26. Freshmen can test their skill at the same event on April 2 in G-102. Senior volleyball fans will take pleasure in knowing that on April 3 they can spike to their heart's content in the Rider Gym. This event will be followed on April 9 by the junior volleyball match, and on April 23 the sophomores can have their turn.
The Herman L. Rider Memorial Gymnasium is also the site of the senior handball championship which begins on April 24. On the twenty‑ninth of the month the handballers will make way for the freshmen, who start their volleyball tournament. The final event in the month of April is the junior handball tournament which starts on April 30.
Intramurals are open to any boy with some spare time, a liking for sports, and a desire to enjoy himself.
