Seniors Competing for Scholarships
Steve Kissingler '74 and Eric Swanson '74 are entered in the Memco Scholarship Competition. The scholarship is sponsored by Memco Membership Department Stores and Supermarkets. The contest is a group discussion before a panel of six judges. After the first discussion, which may cover history, civics, or economics, semi‑finalists are chosen. Each semi‑finalist will then talk with the judges before the final discussion begins.
First place is a scholarship for $1,000; second place is a $500 scholarship; third place is a $250 scholarship; and the others will receive a $25 scholarship and a trophy.
Metal Sculpture Demonstrates Talent
Mr. Joseph Burlini demonstrated the art of metal sculpture on March 27. Art and some industrial education classes were the only classes permitted to attend.
Food Occupations Provided Food
The Food Occupations students provided the refreshments for Super Saturday. Refreshments included hot dogs, soda, and potato chips. This was their special project for the quarter.
ISU Sponsors Scholarship
Indiana State University's Department of English and Journalism will award scholarships of $1,364 each. Scholarship applicants should submit a manuscript at least five pages long on poetry, fiction, or drama. The deadline for applicants is April 15, and all manuscripts will be judged by members of a Creative Writing Committee. Winners will be notified by May 1.
Each entry should include an information sheet with the applicant's name, address, phone number, graduation date, the high school's name and address, and the name, amount, and the duration of any other scholarship received or applied for at ISU. Mail manuscripts and the information sheet to Director of Awards, Creative Writing, Department of English and Journalism, Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana 47809.
"Happiness Is"
The Girls' Gymnastics Club will present "Happiness Is." The demonstration will be held in the Herman L. Rider Memorial Gymnasium tonight at 7 p.m. The demonstration will also include a dessert. The admission fee is $.75 for students and $1.25 for adults.
