Did you know that Douglas Merkel '75 has received a $225 community scholarship from the Moose Lodge, Daughters of America, and various other organizations? He will fly to Washington, D.C. where he will attend a program on politics.

There he will meet senators and congressmen. Douglas is a member of the Presidential Classrooms for Young Americans.

In the field of drama, did you know that six students have been recognized by the Board of Education for their outstanding performances in the play, "The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man‑in‑the‑Moon Marigolds." The students are Mary Jo Zalabak '76, Betsy Forkins '76, Kathy Stephensen '74, Lorrie Swanson '75, and Luanne Wallin '76.
Bruce Costagli '75 was acknowledged for his performance of duties as stage manager of the production. The play was held February 14, 15, and 16 in the Maine West auditorium.

Maine West teachers have also been active. Did you know that Mr. Daniel Silkowski, chairman of the Maine West English Department, had his article on "Class Procedures" published in the January issue of the "Illinois English Bulletin"?

He has also published articles in the "Kentucky English Bulletin" and has had a book, Lord Jim, published by the Amsco Publishing Company.

Did you know that Mr. Robert Curtis of the Maine West Language Department has had a perfect attendance record since he first started teaching at Maine Township 17 years ago?
