Girls End Seasons,
Finish High in CSL
The Girls' Basketball Team won their last regular game against Niles East, while the Girls' Badminton Team lost their last game against Glenbrook North.
In the Niles East game the girls won by a score of 50-15. High scorers for the team during the game were Kim Tuttle '74, who scored 26 points, and Carol Jensen '74, who scored 10 points. Both Kim and Carol along with Ruth Bernick '75 led the team in rebounds.
Both Niles East and Maine West were tied for second place until this game. The girls' win, clinched second place.
In the league playoffs against Glenbrook North the squad lost by a score of 61-41. Kim Tuttle scored 21 points against the un defeated Glenbrook North team. This loss knocked the girls out.
The overall record for the Girls' Basketball learn this season consisted of four wins and two losses, but‑each loss was by a margin of only one point. "Overall the girls did a very good job considering it was their first year," commented Miss Connie Bauman, the basketball coach.
In the girls' badminton game against New Trier West, both the varsity and jr. varsity lost 0-6. In the league meet they played Niles East and took three singles and two doubles in the second round. They lost in quarter finals.
The Girls' Badminton Team finished in a tie for third place in the South Division of the Central Suburban League. "Although we didn't win as many as we would have liked, they showed great improvement; and we expect much improvement next year," stated Miss Royleen Tipton, the girls' badminton coach.
