VOL. XV, NO. 11
APRIL 5, 1974
Netmen Outlook Bright
Maine West's love of tennis becomes apparent again when, on Saturday, April 6, the varsity and sophomore teams meet Crystal Lake, Hersey, and Homewood in a Quad meet.

The varsity tennis coach is Mr. Roger King, a veteran who is in his eleventh year of coaching. In the past 10 years Mr. King has guided his team to a fine record of 103-48, including undefeated conference championships in 1971 and 1973. Assisting Mr. King this year will be second year man Coach Mike Burke.

Last year the team had a record of 12-5 which included exciting 3-2 victories over Niles East and Maine South and a 5-0 win over Wheaton Central. All of these teams were conference champions.
Returning lettermen include Jeff Trecker '75, Frank Lux '74, and Steve Niles '74. All three men are in their second varsity season, and Jeff made the district semi‑finals in doubles. Other varsity candidates include Ed Addleman '74; juniors Steve Semler, Rick Petrucci, and Jim Wittbold; and sophomores Mike Hand and Tom Keenley.

The team's greatest strength lies in the fact that they have good strength, excellent team spirit, and the Maine West tennis tradition. However, it should be known that the Warriors are playing in the strongest tennis conference in the state.
