Brotherhood Society Initiates
New Members
On Tuesday, April 30, in the Herman L. Rider Memorial Gymnasium the new Brotherhood members were initiated into Brotherhood Society. Entertainment at the all‑school assembly was provided by a group called "Under New Management."

The Brotherhood Award is an honorary award given each year to three girls and three boys from each class who best exemplify the spirit of brotherhood. Ballots were sent to each homeroom, where each student then chose three girls and three boys from their class who had shown friendliness, kindness, and understanding toward others.

Brotherhood Society sponsors activities throughout the year. They usually hold two assemblies each year, but this year they are only sponsoring an assembly for the initiation of new members. Members of Brotherhood show new students around Maine West, so they will feel comfortable in their new surroundings.

Brotherhood members also help with the March of Dimes. This year they sponsored a spaghetti dinner on Super Saturday. The present Brotherhood officers are Steve Zuccarini '75, president; Jeannie Kennedy, '74, vice‑president; and Jeanne Wolf '74, treasurer. Mr. Bruce Erickson is the sponsor of Brotherhood Society.

This year Brotherhood Society initiated 28 new members. The newly initiated freshmen are Kerry Jo Brown, Diane Buckles, Sue Shakespeare, Scott Reed, Richard Graf, and Michael Wright.

Dian Frankowski, Sandy Schellenberger, Jane Wyatt, David Kennedy, Bob Nelson, and Glen Watson represent the Sophomore Class. Junior initiates are Carol Kent, Nina Kleinhans, Audrey Nyberg, Lynn Raupp, Diane Williams, Gary Dunham, Bryan Real, and Bob Kraves.

Kimberly Thompson, Libby Vana, Pam Waytine, Ed Dolan, Steve Kisslinger, and Doug Myers represent the Senior Class. AFS students Maria Piccolo and Anthony Lloyd received honorary Brotherhood Awards.
