Orchesis To Present 'Into Oblivion'
"Into Oblivion," Orchesis' annual spring presentation, will take place on May 3 and 4 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. For months Orchesis has prepared for "Into Oblivion" with the aid of Ms. Susan Gelz, club sponsor.
Oblivion's dance acts have been divided into three categories: Mythology, Emotions, and Futuristic. In the Mythology category all Orchesis members will participate in a dance in which they will wear masks which were designed and constructed by Art IV classes led by Mr. George Blanas. Mr. Blanas will also participate in the masked dance as Merlin the Magician.
In the Emotion category Orchesis members will portray deep feelings: love, fear, anger. Finally, in the Futuristic category, Orchesis members will dance in the strange atmosphere of the future.
Beginning Orchesis blends with a dance called Patriotic Jive done to the song, "76 Trombones." Diana Burmann '74 and Debbie Jacunski '74 will perform solos. Carol Slivka '74 and Nancy Wilson '76 will perform "Duet Delight." Sisters Pam '74 and Joy '75 Schultz will dance to "Cotton Candy." Oblivion will also feature ballet.
Ms. Gelz says of the presentation, "It's going to be just great!" Tickets costing $1 are now available from any Orchesis member or at the auditorium door on the nights of the presentation.
