National Honor Society Students Chosen

The Maine West faculty chose 157 seniors and 25 juniors to be in the National Honor Society. These were initiated at the National Honor Society Tea held on April 30.

Seniors eligible for membership must have had a 3. or B average with four full credit courses per semester. Junior who were eligible must have been in the top five per cent of their class and have no grade below a B. The students who are elected to this society are chosen on the basis of character, the service they have rendered to the school, and their leadership ability.

May Festival

Tonight at 8 p.m. in the Herman L. Rider Memorial Gymnasium the Maine West Music Department will present their annual May Festival, featuring the various musicians and Choraliers. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
Junior Leaders Chosen

Ms. Karen Kenyon, chairman of the girls' Physical Education Department, has announced 74 sophomore girls who will become junior leaders. After one year of preparation as junior leaders the girls will then become senior leaders. The duties of the leaders are assisting the physical education teachers with various activities, developing an understanding of responsibility, and striving for improvement in physical education activities.

Any girls interested in becoming a junior leader must submit an application, a recommendation from an organization sponsor, a recommendation from her homeroom teacher, a recommendation from her current senior leaders, a recommendation from her freshman and sophomore physical education teachers, and a recommendation from two classroom teachers.

Service Awards Banquet

A Service Awards Banquet will be held in honor of helpers in various offices throughout the school. The banquet is at Fiddler's on Monday, May 20, at 6:30 p.m.
