Thespians To Present
'The Crucible' Soon
This year's Maine West Thespian play is The Crucible written by Arthur Miller. The play will be presented on Thursday, May 30, Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1, at 8 p.m. in the auditorium.
Every year a different play of a different topic is selected. This year's play is considered to be "a very difficult play to do," as stated by Mr. Daryl Schultz, a speech and drama instructor here at West and director of the play. Also, Mr. Bruce Nelson, a member of the English Department, will be the technical director.
The play has to do with the Puritans in their pursuit of those involved in witchcraft in old Salem. The Crucible is a combination of historical fact and some things that could happen in today's world.
Some things are changed by the author to make it more appropriate for the stage. The problem is to get the audience to believe that these people lived and the events actually happened. "Although the cast is doing very well, there are still some problems," said Mr. Schultz.
