Did you know that Peggy Guthrie '74 is a third alternate winner of a four‑year scholarship to Indiana State University? She submitted several poems to the Indiana State Creative Writing Department. Peggy plans to major in chemistry.

Jill Shakespeare '74 has been chosen to be on the Chicago Fire Pom Pon Squad. The squad, called "Flames," consists of 40 girls from Illinois. It will perform at half time during televised Chicago Fire football games at Soldier Field.
Maine West teachers have been quite busy lately. Did you know that Dr. Norman Ladd, head of the Mathematics Department, spoke for the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New York State? He spoke to secondary and college teachers on "Electric Calculators and the Remedial Student."

Mr. Daniel Silkowski, head of the English Department, served as a consultant to the College Entrance Examination Board, visiting Southeast High School in Lincoln, Nebraska. He spoke to high school teachers about the advantages for students participating in the Advanced Placement Program.

In sports, did you know that Debbie Carlstrom '77 won the 800 and 400 meter races at the North America Indoor Speed Skating Championship in Quebec, Canada?

In an April 8 baseball game, Jay Liggett '74 pitched a no-hitter against Deerfield. The game's final score was 4‑0.
