Traveler Allen Finds A Home
in Chicago
By JIM KLEINER

Sadness can change into happiness if you make the right moves. Beginning in Philadelphia, you finally find happiness in Chicago. This may not be the answer to everyone's happiness but it has been for Dick Allen of the White Sox.

Notably, Dick Allen has worn a batting helmet on the field, as well as at bat, since he had trouble with some "arm throwing" fans in Philadelphia. Stemming from this incident in Philadelphia, Allen has gotten used to wearing a helmet every day on the field. But Philadelphia and all of its bad memories are gone now because Dick Allen is happy in Chicago.
Manager Chuck Tanner is one of the reasons why the Sox slugger is happy. Tanner is about the only person in baseball who can honestly communicate with Allen. Besides that they both respect each other's abilities. Sox Players around the league have envied his salary of over $200,000 a year and his own personal set of training rules. Indeed, many players wish they had his ability alone.
