Graduation Time Rapidly Approaches
The Herman L. Rider Memorial Gymnasium is the site of Maine West's fifteenth annual Commencement Exercises on Thursday, June 13, at 8 p.m.

Commencement begins with Verdi's "Grand March" from "Aida" and Wagner's 'March of the Meistersingers" presented by the Commencement Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Francis Vaupel.

After the presentation of the colors, the national anthem, and the invocation, delivered by the Rev. John Nickerson of Our Savior Lutheran Church of the Deaf, Karen McGavin, Senior Class president, will introduce the two Maine scholars who will give the commencement addresses. Highlights of the program include the presentation of two awards: one to Mr. Ralph Sides on his retirement and one to Mr. Verne Brownell for 25 years of service to the Social Science Department.
The Senior Class will be presented by Dr. Richard Short, superintendent of schools, and accepted by Mr. Robert Claus, president of the Board of Education. The presentation of the diplomas will be carried out by the Board of Education. Mr. Fred Bencriscutto and Mr. John Graef will announce the names.

After presenting the diplomas the Class of 1974 will sing the Alma Mater for the last time. Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance" and Meyerbeer's "Coronation March" from "The Prophet" mark the end of the Commencement Exercises and the end of the high school experience.
