Top Seniors Get Department Awards
At Honors Assembly
This morning at the Senior Honors Assembly 20 students from 12 departments were honored with awards. The awards, given for continued excellence in one particular field, are among the highest honor a senior can receive.

In order to qualify for an award, a senior must have completed a minimum of three years' work in the department and have a high overall grade average. School citizenship as well as scholastic averages are the important criteria by which the seniors are selected.
In previous years no student could win more than one award though he might be a candidate for an award in several departments. This year, however, the rule was changed. As a result, several seniors won awards in more than one area.

Each senior receives an award certificate from the chairman of the department honoring him. The Westerner salutes these students for their continued excellence and perseverance in their respective fields.
