VOL. XV, NO. 14
This year's outstanding senior football players of the year are split end Ed Dolan, tailback Dan Myszka, and fullback John O'Connor. These three players gained co‑honors because of the closeness in talent of all the seniors on the squad.
Ed Dolan was Maine West's leading pass receiver, gained the most yardage passing, had the most receptions for touchdowns, and had the longest reception for a touchdown of the season, 76 yards. He is a member of the all‑conference team, and through his accomplishments on the gridiron has received a football scholarship to Northern Illinois University.
Dan Myszka was the team's leading rusher, which led him to the team's co‑captainship and most valuable player selection. His best game was against Maine South in the first overtime game ever in IHSA history, as he had 41 carries and gained 237 yards. Dan is a member of the CSL's all‑conference squad and the Prep All‑America team, and has received a football scholarship to the University of Wisconsin State.
John O'Connor's accomplishments include being named a team co‑captain and leading the team in scoring and tackles. These gave him recognition on the all‑conference, all‑area, and Prep All‑America squads, while also earning him a football scholarship to the University of Louisville.
