Jay Liggett
"One of the finest pitchers in this area, probably in the state" was how varsity baseball Coach Al Carstens described his pitching ace, Jay Liggett. Liggett this year has thrown two no hit ball games, one of which was a perfect game, allowing no one on base. For his performance this past season, Liggett has been recommended by the CSL for all‑state recognition. He has already achieved all‑conference recognition for the second year in a row, and is a cinch to double up on allarea.

Coach Carstens is quick to compliment Liggett as he ". . . has done an excellent job for us this season. He won every one of our big games." Mr. Carstens pointed out that he has a "future in baseball" as the scouts, both college and pro, are quite high on him. Liggett is "just an excellent baseball player," and we'll be hearing more of his exploits in future years.
