Steve Niles
"The keystone of the defense" of the Maine West varsity soccer team is being honored as its outstanding player. That was the term given Steve Niles by varsity Coach David Winter.

Niles played what is generally an obscure position, defenseman, rarely gaining the notoriety of the goal scoring forwards or centers. But his outstanding play over the past season earned him well deserved all‑conference recognition.

Coach Winter dubbed Niles as an excellent all‑around soccer player, adding that the team "would have been hurtin' without him."

Steve plans to go on to Steven's Point College in Wisconsin where he plans to major in wildlife management and continue his career in soccer.
