The girls' tennis team won for the first time against Maine South in a decisive victory, 4-3. However, the South team did manage to edge by the swimming team by a score of 72-41.
The Maine South victory was followed by a 6-1 loss at the hands of Niles West. The girls also lost to Niles East by 2-5. At Maine East the girls battled for a 6-1 win, with Kim Tuttle winning 4-6, 6-3, and 3-6.
The Maine South victory was scored mainly by Kim Tuttle in first singles, 6-3, 6-1, third singles by Judy Bunn, 0-6, 6-4, 6-1, first doubles by Barb Schwarz and Maureen Brock, 6-1, 6-1, and second doubles by Karen Neetz and Karen Kiester, 6-3, 6-3, 6-1.
On Friday, October 26, the girls' tennis team will play in the conference meet at Niles North.
After the loss to Maine South, the girls' swimming team got back on the winning track and beat Niles East by a score of 85-28. They then went on to prove just how good they were, to beat Niles West by a measure of 65-41. Ms. Terry Milam, the swimming coach, accredits this to the fact that they have been practicing hard and long.
