Swimmers Clobber Niles North, 81‑32
The girls' swimming team won a hard fought battle against Deerfield, their arch rivals. They also conquered Niles North and placed high in the Central Suburban League meet to end the season.
In the Deerfield Meet the girls won almost all the contests. In the 200‑yard medley relay they took first with Sue Levand '75, Sue Bowersox '76, Betty Evans '75, and Pat Sipple '75 in 2:07. Pat Sipple took first in the 200‑yard free style in 1:02, 50‑yard free style in 29 seconds and 100‑yard free style in 1:02.

Sue Levand won the 100‑yard backstroke in 1:15. Betty Evans won in the 50‑yard backstroke in 34 seconds, the 50‑yard butterfly in 30 seconds, and 100‑yard fly in 1:03. Sue Bowersox won in the 50 and the 100‑yard breaststroke in 36 seconds and 1:20. The final score was Maine West 58 and Deerfield 55.
Maine West won 81 to 32 against Niles North. Hot swimmers were Pat Sipple, Betty Evans, Sue Levand, Sue Bowersox, and Sheila McNulty '75.
In the Central Suburban Meet, Maine West placed second in their division and fifth in the whole conference meet.
