"Watts" Happening
Time and Energy Running Short
By JANET TEEVANS

The energy crisis is one of the main topics of conversation these days. It has not as of yet injured our country severely, but without proper help it will slowly diminish our energy supply to nothing.

While the dispute with the Arab countries is one of the main causes of the energy crisis, we can still help by observing simple things, such as: shutting off lights in the house when they are not in use and slowing the speed of the car from 60 m.p.h. to 50 m.p.h. You may not get where you're going as quickly as usual; but if you leave a little earlier, you will still reach your destination on schedule and will be preserving some valuable gallons of gasoline. Also, try turning down the heat in your house. You may have to wear sweaters, but at least you will be putting something to good use.
Most of the things that I have mentioned are simple and common everyday errors and sometimes just plain forgetfulness on our behalf. The only way you can help is by following advice from some prominent authorities and also by using some plain simple logic.

The energy crisis is simply a shortage of fuel to make things operate. Without energy our modern age may have a sudden reverse. America may be using bicycles and the horse and buggy instead of cars. Candles would take the place of lights and while fireplaces would replace heaters. Some people wish they could go back to older times and their dreams may come true, but they may find out that it isn't as wonderful as it seems.

Our world is only what we make it, and if it is harmed by us, we will suffer the consequences. The energy crisis is not only hurting our supplies of necessary resources but also ourselves.
