Explorer Post No. 106 Shows
Concern for Environment
Do you have an interest in conservation and wildlife? Are you concerned about pollution? If you are, there is an organization that you can join that participates in cleaning up the Des Plaines River.

The Explorers Post 106 is a group of students with a common interest of wanting to do something about pollution.

The Explorers also concentrate on wildlife. By cleaning up the Des Plaines River, wildlife will increase - enhancing the beauty around the River area. This winter they plan to build new duck nests which would float on the water, preventing raccoons and other rodents from eating the duck eggs.
There are many benefits from being an Explorer. Besides having an inward satisfaction of participating in the cleanup of pollution and helping wildlife. Canoeing classes are taught in the summer by members of the Izaak Walton League.

Senior advisor is Mr. Stan Tekiela. If you are interested in becoming an Explorer, you must attend one of their meetings. Meetings are every Tuesday night at 7:30 in the Izaak Walton League's clubhouse. A registration of $2.50 is required every year. With this the member receives a subscription to the "Explorer" magazine. All money goes to the Boy Scout Association, which handles the tuition fees.
