I. E. Starts Season
The Maine West Speech Team I. E., individual events, attended their first meet of the year at York High School. The following Saturday, December 1, they traveled to Lake Park High School.
At York Maine West came in ninth out of a possible 24. The team as a whole received 93 points. The winners at the meet were Mary Jo Zalabak '76, first place for special occasion speaking; Steve Pelinski '77, first place for humorous interpretation; and David Franks '74, second place for dramatic interpretation.

Maine West came in thirteenth out of 32 schools at Lake Park and received a total of 108 points. The winners here were Mary Jo Zalabak, first place for special occasions speaking; Steve Pelinski, first place for humorous interpretation; and David Franks, second place for dramatic interpretation. All first place winners received trophies.
Anyone interested in joining Speech Team should see Mrs. Sullivan or Mr. Bruce Nelson ninth period or after school in L‑wing.
The team's next meet is Saturday, January 12, at West Leyden High School.
