New Super Stadium Brings
Events Closer
By JEFF SCHWARZ

Is a new super‑stadium good for the Rosemont area? Jordan Kaiser, president of the World Hockey Association's Chicago Cougars, and Rosemont Mayor Donald Stephens seem to think so.

Kaiser and his brother Walter have decided to build a 15 million dollar complex that will be in operation 325 days of the year. Such events as ice hockey, tennis, roller derby, circuses, and other activities will be scheduled for the new building located at the corner of Mannheim and Lunt in Rosemont.

Many of the villagers seem to think that the congestion will become very heavy in their town on game nights. Already 45 dwellings have been authorized condemned by an ordinance adopted by the Rosemont Village Board.
The acquisition of the land will cost approximately 3.5 million dollars, and the building of the stadium will cost about 11.5 million. The stadium will be built as a municipal enterprise funded by the sale of revenue bonds.

All this will be a boon to businesses in Rosemont and Des Plaines and also help taxpayers. The new stadium will pay for much of the property taxes, and many new businesses will flock to the site.

But beyond all, having all those great sporting events so close at hand will provide great enjoyment for everyone in this area and at the same time still be close enough for people from Chicago to enjoy.

Personally, I can not wait to see a good brand of hockey in the Cougars and some good concerts or events conveniently located near my home.
